With my first baby I was not concerned with "getting the best deal" on essential baby products. Instead I was concerned with what everyone else said I needed. With my second child, I cut back on buying as I had most of what I needed from my first. When my third was born, I needed deals...good deals...on diapers, wipes and other quickly consumed items. Here are some tips that worked for me on how to get the best deals on these products.
Look for free shipping online.
I started researching how I could get the best deals for the things I needed most. Shopping online would save me money if I used a coupon code, but I didn't understand that often I was eating up my savings in shipping costs. That was until I started shopping online ONLY when I could get FREE shipping or site to store shipping.
Always use coupons and buy products in advance when they are on sale.
When shopping in-store, I started saving money by getting items on clearance. I looked on end caps and tried hard to buy diapers and wipes when they were 30% off or more. This was great, and then I learned about something that could save me even more...COUPONS! I had no clue that I could use coupons on clearance items. This jumped my savings up to 50%, sometimes 75%, off of the original price. I was HOOKED! If I found an end cap of diapers on clearance I bought all that I could and traveled up to 10 minutes to the neighboring chain stores to see if they had them as well. Sometimes I hit jack pot, sometimes I didn't. I quickly found that if I buy ahead this way, then I would never have to pay full price for diapers.
This has become a lifestyle for me. Not just with diapers either. I do this with cereal, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and most of the consumables that my family uses.
Start printing out coupons for the brand of diapers and wipes that you like most. Carry them with you and watch for deals at your favorite stores. Do this with all things baby related. It's addicting as you watch the money you've saved stack up.
