Fun Activities Father's Can Enjoy With Their Kids

Fri, Aug 24 2012 9:00 am

Children cherish time spent with their father. Are you looking for ways to bond with your kids? Here is a list of fun activities to do together:

Rough housing, chasing, and hide and seek: Kids love getting active with dad in the house! Have fun getting physical, but of course use caution. Challenge yourself to find creative hiding spots!

Build a fort or tunnel: Use couch cushions, pillows, blankets, and anything else you can think of. Get out the flashlights and play in the fort.

Build with blocks or legos: It doesn’t even have to be anything identifiable, just have fun putting the blocks together.

Read books: You can read the words or create your own stories looking at the pictures. If your child is old enough, ask them to help tell the story.

Video games: Instead of letting your child play alone, play together! Remember, it is recommended to limit screen time and make sure the games are age appropriate.

Help with homework: Sit down and help your child learn. For toddlers, this can be coloring and painting, and letter and number practice with preschoolers.

Sports: Go outside and play sports with your child. Teach him or her your favorite sport or learn a new one together. There are so many to choose from – t-ball/baseball, basketball, soccer, football, frisbee, and more.

Play at the park playground: Take your kids to the park. And instead of sitting on the bench watching, play with them. Push them on the swings, slide down the slide, do the monkey bars.

Bike rides: Depending on how old your child is, walk, run, or ride along side of your child.

Fly a kite: A windy day is a great day to fly a kite. Get one for each of you and see you can get it the highest.

Make breakfast together: Get up early and have fun cooking. Whether it is toast or eggs and bacon, do it together and let your child help with as much as he or she is capable.

Hey Dads, what are your favorite activities to do with your kids?
