HALO Bassinest glide sleeper FAQ
Why is the Bassinest® glide sleeper ideal for nursing moms?
Its effortless glide design allows mom to pull baby close to her and its retractable wall feature make it easy for mom to reach in and lift baby while in bed (vs. stationary and attached bassinets, which often necessitate mom getting out of bed to lift baby). After nursing, it also allows mom to return baby to his separate sleep area without requiring her to get out of bed.
Why is it easier for moms to get in and out of bed with the Bassinest glide sleeper?
Stationary or attached bassinets are hard to get around. When positioned right next or attached to the bed, moms often have to get in or out of bed by crawling around them. This can be hard to do, inconvenient, and even painful (especially for moms who have had a C-section birth). The Bassinest glide sleeper makes getting in and out of bed easy, convenient and comfortable. Unlike traditional or attached bassinets, its gliding motion allows mom to gently move the baby’s sleep area aside, so she can rise or sit down with ease.
How does the Bassinest glide sleeper enhance mom’s bonding with baby?
With the Bassinest glide sleeper, mom can safely sleep close to her baby – closer than with any other bassinet or co-sleeper. This close proximity allows her to more easily reach in and soothe her baby; the retractable wall makes it easier to pick up her baby, and the mesh sides mean that she can better see her baby. All this culminates in a closer, more intimate sleeping relationship between mom and her baby while ensuring that baby is still sleeping safe and sound in their own, separate sleep area.
How does the Bassinest glide sleeper’s retractable sidewall work?
The Bassinest glide sleeper’s patented, retractable sidewall lowers easily when mom reaches in to lift or soothe her baby. Its auto-return safety feature automatically returns the sidewall to its original, upright position when the pressure is removed, ensuring that baby is always sleeping safely. If desired, the side wall can be locked in the upright position.
Can the Bassinest glide sleeper be used on either side of the bed?
Yes, the Bassinest glide sleeper can be positioned and used on either side of an adult bed.
Can it be used with all kinds of adult beds?
The Bassinest glide sleeper’s low-profile, two-point base is designed to accommodate virtually all bed heights and constructions, with the exception of platform beds. It can be adjusted from 24”–34” (60-86 cm) in height. It needs only 2” (5 cm) clearance from the floor in order to glide underneath the bed.
Can it be used on bare or carpeted floors?
Yes, the Bassinest glide sleeper features gliding discs on its base that enable an effortless gliding motion on all floor types, including carpet. The discs will not scratch or damage floors. If using with an area rug, please ensure that legs are placed either on or off the rug for maximum stability.
Is there an incline feature on the Bassinest glide sleeper?
No. Inclining a baby is potentially dangerous and not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics as he can slide towards the foot of the inclined sleep surface. Studies show limited benefit of inclining a baby to treat colic or reflux.
Can the bed portion be removed from the base and used on its own?
No, the Bassinest bed should NEVER be used on its own. Only use the Bassinest glide sleeper with the glide sleeper base, or the portable stand accessory.
Can the side wall lock feature be used to lock the wall in the “down” position?
The lock feature will only lock the wall in the upright position. It does not lock in the “down” position due to potential safety issues.
Is the Bassinest glide sleeper easily portable so that I can use it in other rooms of my home?
The Bassinest glide sleeper can easily be moved to another room. The bed disconnects from the base and easily inserts into the Bassinest portable stand, sold separately. Only use the Bassinest glide sleeper with the glide sleeper base, or the portable stand accessory.
Can I use the Bassinest for my twins?
To ensure your children’s safety, the Bassinest glide sleeper should not be used for more than one infant at a time.
Can I use a mattress other than the one provided with the Bassinest glide sleeper?
The unique, hourglass-shape of the Bassinest mattress is designed to fit optimally into the Bassinest glide sleeper. It is not recommended to use any mattress other than the one provided, as doing so could create a poor fit and result in an unsafe sleep environment for the baby.

Are Bassinest swivel sleeper accessories compatible with Bassinest glide sleeper?

How does the Bassinest® glide sleeper promote safe sleep?
The American Academy of Pediatrics and safe sleep experts advise moms that, to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) or accidental suffocation, infants under 12 months of age should room share, but should always sleep in their own, separate sleep area. These recommendations are warranted: According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), accidental suffocation accounts for nearly 1,000 infant deaths every year. In addition, according to the American Journal of Public Health, 64% of sudden unexplained infant deaths occurred when the babies were sharing a sleep surface with someone else.
The Bassinest glide sleeper’s unique, moveable baby bassinet allows mom to bring the baby’s sleep area into her bed and position it at eye level, as close to her as she wants, without the risks posed by bed sharing. The Bassinest allows for the close sleeping and optimal visibility of baby that many moms desire, yet keeps baby sleeping safely in their own separate space.
