Things Not to Say to a Pregnant Woman

When you’re pregnant, you’re used to strange things happening. For one, there is a small human playing soccer with your internal organs. And yes, strangers will touch your belly. And people will say things that will make your jaw drop.

If you ever find yourself near a pregnant woman, here are some things she doesn’t want to hear. And yep, these are things our community of moms have actually heard.

Was it a planned pregnancy?

Oh! That’s not personal at all, is it?

Morning sickness is all in your head

Tell that to my stomach, because she disagrees big time.

Are you sure it's not twins?

Gosh, no! I’ll look into that.

Should you really be eating that?

We are growing a human being inside our bodies. Trust us, we know how to feed ourselves.

Are you going to have a {natural birth, c-section, epidural}?

We know it’s natural to be curious about how other women have their babies, but it’s a very personal decision. Unless you’re a very, very close friend, this might not be something mum wants to talk about.

You look ready to pop!

We hear this anywhere from 4 months to 9 months, and guess what? We are definitely aware of how we look. Trust us, if we’re about to “pop,” you’ll know it.

Remember, you can never go wrong with a simple congratulations.
