"We loved this mattress! It is the first mattress I've seen with a removable waterproof cover that can be easily removed for cleaning. It is still safely firm, but the cover has a plusher side to it that offers slight cushion. My baby was very comfortable and slept well. It came in a small box (for a mattress) and did not release any smells when immediately being opened - which was important to us! We could use it right away! The cover sippzer opens wide enough that the mattress slides in and out well. The whole cover could go in the wash and it held up well through washing and going right back on the mattress. I have not had to clean it yet, but it seems like it will be very easy to clean. I definitely recommend this mattress especially if you’re wanting the extra peace of mind about it being breathable."
"Our daughter (22 months old) seems very comfortable on this Halo crib mattress! We are very happy with it. Of course toddler sleep is all over the place but the first night she slept on this she slept for 11 hours straight! So it must be pretty comfy! After opening the box and unrolling the mattress we let it sit for a day or two in our guest room so it could fully fluff up. I put a standard fitted crib sheet on it and it fit easily and snugly into our crib. I love that the mattress cover is breathable (gives us peace of mind) and washable (a MUST with so many possible messes with a baby/toddler!). The soft mesh layers feel very nice and it zips off to wash very easily. The mattress feels soft enough to be comfortable and firm enough to make me feel confident in the safety of it for our baby to sleep on. "There’s so much to consider when purchasing a crib mattress and the Halo Essential Crib mattress checks several features that I’m looking for. I was given this crib mattress to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The first feature I like is the machine-washable and waterproof cover, which makes night time accidents so much more easy to clean. I’ve washed it about three times in one month and the cover does not retain odors or stains. I also haven’t had any difficulty finding crib sheets because the mattress fits snugly within my standard crib frame. My little one has been enjoying the comfortable sleep on this breathable, foam mattress and I can also rest assured because this mattress meets JPMA and Oeko-Tex standards. The mattress is firm and durable and provides safe support for my toddler. She not only enjoys sleeping and daytime napping on her mattress, but laying down to read books and listening to stories. The proof is in the name: the Halo Essential mattress is an essential part of my toddler’s day and night and I highly recommend it."
"I received this mattress as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The mattress is a a little thinner than the one I was previously using for my little one in her crib. However, I like that the cover is removable and easy to clean. Often times my little one leaks through at night so being able to easily clean the mattress if needed is a huge plus! Although it says it’s waterproof, I still use a waterproof mattress cover under the sheet for extra protection for any types of spills, leaks or blow outs. As a whole I am happy with the mattress and I think my baby finds it comfortable based on how she sleeps through the night."
"I was given this crib mattress to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and it checks all the boxes for a safe and reliable crib mattress at an affordable price. It has a solid, comfortable core despite it not being as thick as others, and my little one has slept well on it. Having a breathable mattress alleviates concern about baby rolling onto their stomach. The waterproof, washable cover is an amazing feature because we all know that spit up with infants or bedtime accidents with toddlers require this protection! The cover easily zipped on/off ,and I was able to wash and dry it in my machine at home. The cover is a little rough and crinkly, so even though it can be used without one, I'd always use this mattress with with a crib sheet. I really appreciate that even in a budget-friendly option, the mattress has all the safety certifications I'd look for, like JPMA, Oexo-Tex, Certi-Pur, and no flame retardants or formaldehyde in manufacturing. This is an excellent choice for a crib mattress that doesn't compromise on the most important features in order to offer it at an attractive price point!"
"Major positive about the mattress is that it has a removable, washable cover. Most folks like me tend to use a mattress cover, but in case you don’t want to, this mattress has a removable cover for any incidents or accidents. It appears very breathable which is great for warmer temps and climates. My biggest concern is that it is soft, and maybe a tad too soft for newborns/infants. For one year olds plus, not bad. The mattress does not have two sides (one firm and one soft). It is a one sided mattress only. It fit very well in both of my cribs. I adore the Halo brand and have used many of their products, but I feel that the mattress fell short just a tad (just from being too soft). I was given this crib mattress to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel."
